The traditional pilgrimages follow the route of Haridwar - Rishikesh - Deo Prayag - Tehri - Dharasu - Yamunotri - Uttarkashi - Gangotri - Triyugnarayan - Gaurikund and Kedarnath. This route is in accordance with the Hindu ritual of parikrama or clockwise circumambulation. However, a possible alternative is the trail to Kedarnath from Rishikesh is via Deoprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Agastmuni, Guptkashi, and Gaurikund.
