Almora may be a municipal board and a cantonment town within the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Almora district. Almora is situated at an altitude of 5,417 feet amidst the southern part the Kumaon Hills of the Himalayas. It was established in the 16th century. To reach Almora is hassle-free as it is well connected by railways, roadways and airways. The nearest railways station is Kathgodam that is around 91km away. Buses connect the town with other neighboring areas. The nearest Airport is Pantnagar that is 125 km away from the main city of Almora. Almora are often visited in summer, monsoon or winter. Winters in Almora are quite chilly and yes, it does snow in Almora in December and January. Located at a distance of 33 km from Almora, Binsar is a small town in Uttarakhand known for the surreal beauty of the snow-laden Himalayan peaks. Dwarahat is an ancient town filled with beautiful temples and breathtaking sceneries, that also is an exquisite retreat within the Kumaon Mountains. Situated within the wondrous Almora district of Uttarakhand, Dwarahat may be a place of special inheritance and of spiritual importance. Simtola may be a famous picnic spot opposite to a horseshoe ridge, which offers a bird’s eye view of the luscious terrains and therefore the nearby misty valleys.
